Moon Seop Seo is a South Korean space designer, conceptual and visual artist. At present he shares his life and work between South Korea and the Netherlands (Eindhoven). He is known for creating poetic installations that combine engineering approaches, cultural meanings, and elements of Nature.
Moon Seop Seo was born in 1994 in South Korea. He got the basic engineering education, which subsequently greatly influenced his technical approach to art. In 2021 he graduated with honors from the prestigious Design Academy Eindhoven (the Netherlands).
Moon Seop Seo's style merges the Eastern and Western philosophies, exploring the aesthetic contradictions and connections between Korea and Europe. Drawing on his technical background, he applies the materials-oriented approach, transforming complex industrial processes into poetic spatial installations.
The artist strives to create an emotional atmosphere that brings moments of peace to city dwellers (for example, by recreating the rhythm of falling water drops in the project "Passage to the Lake"). In his own words, he wants his works to "leave exclamation marks in our everyday life."
In 2013, Moon Seop So founded his own interdisciplinary design studio. He actively collaborates with design museums and international galleries, such as Mia Karlova Galerie in Amsterdam and Mint Gallery in London. The designer participates in international exhibitions, including Paris Design Week and Milan Design Week, and his work has been exhibited at the Museum of Applied Arts in Cologne (MAKK).
